Can 2010 really be different?

Post image for Can 2010 really be different?

I am sure many of you read the title of this blog post, and your immediate response was “Of course!” But being the optimistic realist that I am, I am going to take a counter stance and inform you that 2010 will not be different simply because you say so, but rather the changes will take place once you proclaim that this year will become the foundation for growth for the next 365 days and beyond.

lgBelieveInYourselfHow many of you approach the New Year with frustration because you realize that many of the goals and resolutions which were set 365 days ago never manifested, as all you did was tell yourself that things would be different? There is a huge distinction between telling yourself you can do something versus proclaiming that you will do something. I encourage you to watch the video below because this will be an opportunity for you to witness what proclaiming looks and sounds like in order to get results and implement this strategy in your world.

The human language is one of the most profound tools in our lives because the influence it can have over our entire being is something that is powerful beyond measure. Those who state that semantics are words that can be interchanged with one another do not understand the potential that lies in the sound which is emitted from your lips. Words are like arrows because once they are released they are gone forever. There is obviously duality in this statement because with all of the good that our word choices can create, there is also destruction that could take place when expressed with the wrong intentions. But obviously, all of you know that my passion lies in creating an identity for yourself, and an integral component of this process is your self-talk. It is what you say, that never leaves your lips, but instead, ingrains itself in your mind and is reiterated time and time again. These words have the power to catapult you to an entirely new place in your life, or destroy your vision while leaving you stagnant. This is where the problem lies and how it relates with the New Year, but even more importantly, how you live your everyday life. When we share our New Year Resolutions—losing weight, spending more time with our family, starting a business, publishing a book, etc., these words are leaving our mouth and are now emitted to the world. But if our self talk is in contradiction to our external language, because we subconsciously do not believe that we are capable of accomplishing whatever it is that we desire, then there is no chance that this year will be any different than the last. Words which leave your mouth shy in comparison to the influence that the words of your mind encompass.

happy-new-year-2009When you say one thing, but believe something else, your beliefs will come true, while your words will dissipate. So if you are going to simply tell yourself that this year will be different, than I encourage you to stop before you start because this will result in false hopes and broken dreams. But if you are truly committed and your internal voice matches your external expression, and you adamantly proclaim that this year is going to be different by allowing your words of inspiration to guide you while remaining conscious to the voices in your head; then I am confident that results will be brought into your world by controlling the chatter of your mind.

With all of this being said, I would like to PROCLAIM that 2010 is going to be profound and I hope this New Year brings you everything you have ever wanted and more because you are now pursuing congruency both internally and externally with your thoughts…

How will 2010 really be different than any prior years?

Hi Jared – You state that -There is a huge distinction between telling yourself you can do something versus proclaiming that you will do something. –

I recognize agreement with that statement because there is a difference between a thought and a belief. A thought is a passing idea whereas a belief is a thought that we say YES to. When we say a LOUD YES to our thoughts they become beliefs and when are beliefs get moved into our neurology, they become actions – as Dr. Hall states, we need to move it from our mind to our muscle. Dr. Hall has modeled the structure of moving a belief from the mind into the muscle which he discusses in one of his latest books called Achieving Peak Performance. An excellent book.

As always, you captured the essence of the message in such a wonderfully articulate manner! Many people have thoughts come in their minds, but unfortunately leave the same way they came unless they hold themselves accountability to shifting the meaning behind these ideas. We must take complete ownership of what we are looking to achieve while remaining focused throughout the process of PROCLAIMING what WILL be!!!

I hope you have a very HAPPY and HEALTHY NEW YEAR and thank you for always contributing!

As we discussed in person, I totally agree. I will take it one step further for you… not just say it and believe it, anchor it with a feeling. This may mean you need to go back to something that you proclaimed you wanted, felt it and went after it with all of your heart and guts. I also encourage you to write down your desires in the most clear and succinct way – I call it your intention(s) for when you do this you are signing a contract between you and the universe. Being clear and specific will allow the universe to manifest this for you. And yes I do wholeheartedly agree that the more congruent, in alignment, that you are with your feelings, thoughts and actions, the faster you will manifest your desires. Go for it. I am and I am seeing the results unfold. As Jared says, the best is yet to come — it is pretty good now!!

Now it is your turn to MIRROR this strategy because this is exactly what needs to take place. We must tie an emotion to what we are looking to achieve because this will enable us to re-experience the passion, re-experience the joy, and re-experience the excitement. But the question I pose, because I know many people will struggle with this step, is what to do if you do not have an emotion to use as your catalyst? My response to this forecasted question defies simplicity on the far-side of complexity and is a concept that I have written and spoken about on a number of occasions. It is called STARTING WITH THE END IN MIND, a philosophy that has held strong for CENTURIES, because once we permit ourselves to DREAM without explanation, we can begin to envision what we want our life to look and feel like. We can literally put ourselves in the place of our dreams and then reverse engineer the process to get ourselves back to where we are today. This concept seems simple, but it will take time, energy, and effort. But what I encourage everyone to realize is that it will be the most effective use of your time, energy, and effort because the greater sense of clarity that you are able to gain, the more excitement and passion will be brought into the NOW! Once this emotion from the past or future is anchored and you have clearly defined what it is you are looking to accomplish, it is time to permit the universe to do what it does best–MANIFESTATION! But you must remember that RESULTS will not take place without ACTION!

Therefore, stay true to YOU while ignoring what the naysayers believe is best for you because once you are congruent with “who you want to be” and you MIRROR this image, your desires will be YOURS!

As always…this is simply the beginning and the best is yet to come! And the most exciting component, that I usually do not mention, is that the “RIGHT NOW” is, and will always be, AMAZING!

You DESERVE nothing short of the most wonderful NEW YEAR! Thank you for being YOU!

I definitely agree that 2010 will be different. When I am motivated to do something, I do it. When I make that decision and align my priorities I can do it. A lot is that first step, making the decision to do it. Whenever I have reached my goals in the past it has aligned with that proclamation you mention. The strong decision that this is what I am going to do, no matter what.

IT WILL…IT WILL…IT WILL.

Never doubt yourself JEAN because doubt is the number one killer of all ideas. Doubt is what prevents us from starting something that could have changed the world. What if Walt Disney, Oprah, and many of the other innovators of our time doubted their inherent abilities to have a paradigm shift take place? All of us are no different, which is why we must ADAMANTLY PROCLAIM that 2010 is going to be the catalyst and the foundation for YEARS of growth….

BELIEVE!!!!!

I love the stories of those high profile people we all know and admire. One of my favorites is JK Rowling who was told no 14 times before someone said yes to Harry Potter. Or this video game my husband loves that he told me the back story to. It is one of the top, top video games in the country and he was also told no by every company he presented his idea to. So he started his own company and made the game! One quote he says in the credits of the game is about success being the end result of many failures. That isn’t exact, I can’t find it, sorry. But the point is that along the way to success you will probably have several failures to overcome.

I have also said that Failure is Temporary, while Quitting is Forever!

It is perfectly fine to get knocked down eight times, as long as you stand up NINE!

And as the great Napoleon Hill once said…”Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit.”

Jared,
A great discussion. 2009 was a challenging year at best. Mid-way through the year, I stepped back, looked at what had taken place in the previous six months, and determined that I would rise above all that had transpired. I wrote out my goals and six months later, they were accomplished. Because, I not only said/wrote them, I BELIEVED that I would succeed. There was no other alternative.

Your quote ‘Failure is Temporary, Quitting is Forever’ is THE reason I am sharing this note. For anyone in sales, it should be the mantra for 2010!

All the best to you,
Jean

Thank you so much for this share Jean because it often takes REAL WORLD examples to propel people to the next level in their lives. In business, there is a life cycle of innovation which explains the different comfort levels associated with adopting a product into our lives based on our beliefs/values. This is true in development as well because what I have found is that many people will wait until they have seen proof that a concept will work before considering it in their life. You are what we call an innovator and took a giant step towards fulfillment by creating a six month timeline, and watching it all manifest! As a result, you have empowered the skeptics because of the leadership you exemplified in your world. Kudos to you and thank you so much for sharing!

If you want to see a picture of the life cycle of innovation here is a link (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/45/DiffusionOfInnovation.png)

Also, my next blog post that will be published this upcoming WEDNESDAY will resonate with you on so many levels. I am eager to see what you think…

I absolutely LOVE those 2 quotes! I am jotting them down now! Thanks Jared.

JY January 3, 2010 at 1:15 pm

Now that you have them written down, share them with someone in your life because in order to take a thought and make it a thing, you need to bridge the GAP with ACTION. Sharing a message that could positively impact someone else’s life is the most profound strategy to making these words REAL!

Hi ,
To change the world that one see, breath and lives in , We have to learn with each step to stop the old feelings and dialog and become still and allow the universe to give us the very thing we are working toward. How much universal love can We allow ourselves to have? The Art of allowing will come with every breath, and every step We take.

Reply

JY December 30, 2009 at 8:15 pm

This is wonderfully articulated because universal love needs to start with SELF and than can be universal in nature. This reminds me of the definition of insanity which states that we continue to do the same thing over and over, while expecting a different result. In this scenario, we continue to SAY the same thing over and over to ourselves, while expecting something different to manifest. It all starts with the words, which do not even leave our lips, and instead positions itself in our minds, which is the place where our dreams are born!

Excellent Share Tina!!!!!!

Have a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi Jared,
I want to answer from a more ‘Meta’ level to begin with. I hope that is OK!
I think 2010 will be different because this year it will be the year for more people to come out of hiding and shine their light more bright and more open and accessible to others.
There was a time when I couldn’t say I was and NLPer to my corporate clients. Now it’s a buzz word and actually gets work for me.
I believe the energy of this year will facilitate and encourage us all to find our magic, and offer it.
So now to the more personal level!
This year, I am going to offer training in the Magic of Voice and the Voice of Magic.
I am going to enable and facilitate others to find their Magic, their Power and their Voice.
How is 2010 going to differ from the years gone? It is time to SHINE
Speak
Hear
Inspire
Nourish and
En-Lighten

with Love and Light

I agree with your philosophy on ALL levels and resonate with your acronym…AMAZING!

People will only have the opportunity to come out of hiding if they make the choice and TAKE ACTION on this choice regardless of the fear associated with the unknown. With this being said, I firmly believe that the past year of stagnation in the lives of the majority has been a catalyst for their personal development. Waiting for the storm to pass is no longer an option because it is time to DANCE, like we have never danced before, in the RAIN!!!

This year will be the birth of innovation in way that our world has never seen before…Get ready for the ride of your life!!!!

Happy New Year

Will 2010 be different from any prior year! YES….it has to be because if you think about it….it’s like the statement ” perhaps one hand feels different from the other hand as you relax more deeply now…” …uh! well that’s a truism because it’s a different hand isn’t it. :-)

Therefore 2010 has to be a different year because it IS a different year :-) Will it be better ? That depends on what you are projecting….Will you start ” Getting On And Living Successfully” G.O.A.L.S. lets expect too…..so if you like you can try this or not

Simple yet PROFOUND. 2010 is most certainly a new year, one that will present endless opportunities to those who are ready and prepared to take action. This adventure is not for the faint of heart, but at the same time, it is a journey that we all most embark upon. And like you said, we must GET ON AND LIVE SUCCESSFULLY while expecting all of our wonders to manifest in our lives….

Thank you for showing up and sharing this wonderful message!

This is a wonderful message that Michelle has composed and I encourage everyone to read…

This was my comment:

There are some many wonderful points to emphasize in this message, but the one area I want to focus my attention is step number 5:

Treat yourself to something fabulous

This is often one of the reasons that resolutions and goals never reach the point of reality. We need to celebrate progress by recognizing ourselves and treating ourselves to positive self talk. Once we learn the power of acknowledgement, especially when it is directed upon ourselves, we will do everything in our power to continue this journey and have more breakthroughs take place!!!!

My technique is to imagine it. Imagine how it could be and then make it like my imagination. I find that if I can imagine something then I can make it happen, but there are a lot of things that I can’t imagine.

We can put a lot of energy into forcing the manifesting process, or we can find the things that can happen naturally and then a little effort goes a long way. First explore what it looks like in imagination and then proclaim, manifest, and decide…

JY January 19, 2010 at 4:12 pm

I love the concept of using your imagination as the means of testing the results you are looking to accomplish. This is kind of like the philosophy of starting with the end in mind where you literally put yourself in the place of your dreams so that you can feel the energy and the excitement of achievement. This entire process is taking place in your mind, or in essence your imagination, but once you have the opportunity to “taste greatness,” you will do everything in your power to make this become a reality!

Great thoughts!!!

Reply

alexander mcdonell January 20, 2010 at 2:08 am

Yes, when I first heard of that concept it didn’t work for me though. Because I decided what I wanted and then tried to imagine it, and it was too hard. Now I try to imagine it first, and then when I have a good picture I decide that is what I want.

That was what made all the difference for me.

JY January 20, 2010 at 9:29 pm

That is a wonderful approach and also a perfect example of the beauty associated with philosophy. It is not written in stone and instead can be adapted to fit your needs…GREAT JOB Alexander!
