We are thirty days away from 2010 and I have a feeling that this will be a year to remember for those who are committed to making changes, which will result in the reclamation of your life and the realization of what makes you…YOU! The reason I have decided to compose this blog post for all of you today is because the NEW YEAR starts RIGHT NOW! What I often find is that people tell themselves they are going to begin a “diet” in the New Year, start working out in the New Year, become more conscious with their family in the New Year, create a business in the New Year, seek help for an addiction or disorder in the New Year, and the list could goes on and on. I am sure that every single person who is reading this blog post can relate with the concept of making a change in the New Year that never actually takes place. The result is just another year of unfulfilled goals, debilitated dreams, and a person who is no different this year than the last. But if you are truly committed, and your WHY is more substantial than your HOW, then the time is here to start the New Year Resolution process.
Studies show that it takes twenty-one days to make or break a habit, but I believe that having an extra nine definitely could not hurt. As a culture, we often put things off until “tomorrow” because just the thought of taking action on something that happens to be plaguing our existence is a task that we yearn to address at a later date. The problem which arises is that “tomorrow” never comes because we consistently tell ourselves that we will start the process on the tomorrow after tomorrow. What you must realize is that once you think about something that needs to change, there is NO BETTER TIME to begin the implementation method then at that point. The actual results will not be achieved the day that we begin, but will start as the process unfolds. This is the same for your New Year Resolutions because we feel the pressure to proclaim what we are going to do differently this year once the clock strikes midnight, only to awake the next morning without the insatiable desire which is necessary to have a change like this take place. I do not believe that this is a universal dilemma, but I do believe that it is as close as you can possibly get to negatively impacting the lives of everyone. Whether the tasks we need to accomplish are petty and mundane, or the goals that we set are critical to the way we live our lives, ACTION must be taken, rather than PROCRASTINATION, to affect a change.
I know that 2009 has been one that will go down in infamy as a result of the financial crisis, healthcare debacle, rising unemployment, sub-prime mortgages, war, ponzi schemes, oil shortages, etc., but there is no better way to welcome the new year than to have already begun the process of CHANGE for thirty days. These next four weeks will provide you with a foundation to grow from during 2010 and beyond. If you doubt this strategy, or you do not intend on following it because you believe that “this year will be different,” I encourage you to answer this question…
HOW COULD IT HURT TO START THE PROCESS EARLY?
If what you have done in the past has not provided you with the results you were looking to accomplish, then it is time to change what you do in the present so that your future will be drastically different. My goal with this blog post, like all blog posts, is to make you think while taking an introspective journey through your own life in order to determine where changes need to take place. Maybe this has to do with one of your relationships, your lack of diet or exercise, the amount of time you spend with your children, breaking a disorder or addiction, starting a business, writing book, etc. Whatever it is for you, I want you to understand the NEW YEAR STARTS RIGHT NOW!
I encourage you to comment on this blog post and share with the other BRANDENTITY MEMBERS what you intend on doing differently TODAY, in order to achieve your goals in 2010. We are here to support each member, while holding you accountable, so that you can begin living the life that you create for yourself, as opposed to the life that someone or something creates on your behalf…
Therefore, I would like to wish you a HAPPY RIGHT NOW NEW YEAR!
Describe how 2010 will be different for you than any other year…

Latika…what a wonderful testament and I so appreciate your kind words. I always find it fascinating when we document our goals for the future because once we take the time to reflect, we realize that almost everything has manifested. This is a powerful exercise and one that I am going to write about in a future blog post because I believe that many people inflict stress upon themselves for things that they have yet to achieve, but if they were to have documented their goals, they would feel like they achieved huge successes once they realize that 80% of them were already accomplished. This provides you with a sense of awareness and much needed recognition in your world! Thank you again for sharing and WELCOME TO BRANDENTITY!!!
Great content! For me 2010 will be a year of complete transformation. The core pieces in my model of the world will be changed forever. I will project and draw all thing I desire. The only one in the way is me! RCC
I love your level of confidence and I know that this is not only possible, but will become a reality once you begin TAKING ACTION! Get rid of any self limiting beliefs, begin to associate with people who will create a 1+1=3 relationship, and NEVER (and I mean NEVER) stop believing in yourself. I know you can do this ROY, so START RIGHT NOW!
I absolutely agree with you Jared, but you know, it took seeing your video to commit right now. I appreciate what you are doing, and will continue to spread the word.
I appreciate you and I value everything about our friendship. Your consistent support, motivation, and contribution to my life is something that I cherish in a way that words could never describe. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for spreading my message and remember that this is simply the BEGINNING and the BEST is yet to come!!!!
Good! Because I really do need all the support I can get! I need to be held accountable! I have been trying to get off an unwanted 10 pounds for the last three years! I go down 2 , up 3, down 4, up 2! And don’t even get me started on the total lack of exercise in my daily routine. Moving the coffee cup up to my mouth is about all I get some days – LOL!!!
So it’s not really a New Year’s Resolution I’ve made to lose 10 pounds, it’s become a Life’s Resolution….and I’m just hoping to accomplish it before the end of 2010!
Don’t wait for the New Year to accomplish what you want today!
And THAT’S worth thinking about!
~Kathleen.
Kathleen…Once again, thank you for your transparency because I always believe that we learn from the challenges of others as we realize that we are not alone! As for your “LIFE RESOLUTION,” I would like to provide you with some advice. I am extremely passionate about fitness and nutrition and have studied and created my own philosophies for years, which has assisted people from around the world when it came to some of their lifestyle concerns. My belief is the following:
When people battle with “Weight loss” challenges, this has absolutely NOTHING to do with the extra 10 pounds, but rather the emotions that are associated with whatever reason you are not allowing yourself to lose the weight. I believe that many people set goals for themselves without ever defining the purpose behind them. Why do you want to lose the 10 pounds? What benefits will be brought to your world? Can you picture yourself ten pounds lighter? What emotions will surface once you accomplish this goal? What activities do you enjoy doing that get you MOVING?
These questions could go on forever as my intention behind them is to have you think about why this is a goal for you. In addition, what if we CHUNK this down, set a realistic TIME FRAME, and TRACK the results. Instead of using the word GOAL, what if you tried this:
“I am going to lose 3 pounds by May 15, 2010 by eating 3 meals and 2 snacks each day while exercising 3/week.” Notice the difference between GOAL and GOING! This is also trackable because every week, this is what is needed to be accomplished, and if you do not, then the following week will be your opportunity to catch up.
This is only an idea and if I knew more about your exact situation I would be able to help you in an even more substantial way, but give it a shot because I know you will be pleasantly surprised!!!!
HAPPY RIGHT NOW NEW YEAR!!!
TYVM you’ve solved all my peroblms
