Entrepreneurship — Yes or No?!

“If entrepreneurship does NOT create more FREEDOM, then work with/for someone else that is an extraordinary leader.”

- Jared Yellin

Entrepreneurship has become normal…

I remember when I was in college and decided that a traditional route was not in my future, people thought I was nuts.

Every friend had a stable next step…

My parents' friends thought I was being irrational…

And even some family thought this was an uncalculated decision.

But self-awareness has always been an area of strength for me and I knew with certainty that the only path that would fulfill my desires was entrepreneurship.

And once I got going - I remember thinking to myself…

“WHY DOESN’T EVERYONE PURSUE THIS PATH?!?!”

The excitement of entrepreneurship is unparalleled…

The joy of entrepreneurship is unfathomable…

The rewards of entrepreneurship are unmeasurable…

FOR ME!

This is the critical variable…

FOR ME there was no better path…

FOR ME this was the only option…

FOR ME this was my destiny…

And this does not make me any better or worse or crazier than the next guy or gal who needs to make a decision, but it does make me extraordinarily self-aware.

I know TONS of people who took the corporate path even though everything inside is pushing them towards entrepreneurship…

I know TONS of people who chose entrepreneurship but should have taken the corporate path…

And then there is a very small group I know - one that I hope begins to grow and accelerate - who wants BOTH...

They want to be part of something that has limitless upside potential and impact where they are more than just a number, but they don’t want all of the pressure and responsibility that goes with entrepreneurship.

This happens to be the path where “having it all” becomes the most attainable and it's the path I want to empower at a very high level.

Being the Founder of a company is wildly unhealthy before it gets healthy…

Being the Founder of a company is insane before it gets normal…

Being the Founder of a company is financially challenging before it becomes financially rewarding…

I am such an advocate of people becoming self-aware about what they ultimately want…

If entrepreneurship does NOT create more FREEDOM, then work with/for someone else that is an extraordinary leader.

Entrepreneurship should eventually create seismic freedom, and even for me while I was in the trenches I felt free even if I was still held captive by the idea and the company, but for many people their idea/company is holding them captive for wayyyyy longer than it should.

This is one of the reasons why CILA LABS is always looking for people to help run a portfolio company because we are able to offer an unparalleled level of leadership development learned in the trenches, while still giving you the ability to win with limitless financial potential and impact potential.

YES, entrepreneurship has officially become COOL and all of the naysayers are now messaging me, calling me, and/or asking me for advice, direction, etc. - which is great - but being entrepreneurial is even cooler than being THE entrepreneur if that path is better for where you are and where you want to go.

The key - get to know yourself.

Understand your drivers and desires.

Don’t try to be something that you are not…

Never judge yourself based on your decision…

AND select what is BEST for you…

AND AND remember...

If entrepreneurship does NOT create more FREEDOM, then work with/for someone else that is an extraordinary leader.
