Innovate With Boundaries

“Innovation is a requirement for the evolution of…

An idea…

A relationship…

A movement…

A mission…

A cause…

BUT, learning to INNOVATE with boundaries is a fundamental need if your idea, relationship, movement, mission or cause will reach the optimal velocity.”

- Jared Yellin

Whenever I meet an entrepreneur who’s constantly innovating, I know that their idea, product, service, business, mission cause, etc. is NOT going to evolve to a place where it becomes real, impactful, profitable, and successful.

Since entrepreneurship has become the “thing to do” over the past 5+ years, I feel the word INNOVATION needs to be redefined…

Companies host innovation sessions that often lead to nothing…

People use the word innovation as their excuse to not launch…

And more and more ideas are progressing to the graveyard because of innovation…

Innovation is defined as the following…

“a new idea, creative thoughts, new imaginations in form of device or method”

But what if your “old” has not had a chance to be measured, monitored, or even launched?

Countless startups don’t see the light of day because they are in a perpetual mode of innovation without execution…

Innovation requires discipline…

Courage…

And the willingness to face your fear and do it anyway…

It also requires LISTENING to your naysayers, but not necessarily acting on feedback that is irrelevant to what YOU are looking to achieve.

I emphasize YOU because you are the beholder of your idea, relationship, product, mission, cause, movement or whatever else you are doing…

And I challenge you to have the courage to let your idea, relationship, product, mission, cause, movement, see the light of day and stop innovating in the dark...

One of my CODES at CILA LABS is the following…

Innovate With Boundaries

There is a fine line between productive innovation and over-innovation and we are very sensitive to this line because over-innovation means that nothing is given the opportunity to succeed or fail. We create, test, and reflect and based on objective and subjective data we make decisions on the next round of innovation.

Define RULES that will permit your innovation…

Get CLEAR on when it’s time to innovate and when it’s time to learn…

Build BOUNDARIES that will prevent YOU and others from innovating prematurely…

I was part of a company recently where innovation will eventually lead to the demise of the organization because there is never an opportunity to let anything settle in so as a result we were changing things that have NOT been tested, have NOT been seen, and have NOT gained any relevant data to motivate a change.

And the reason why this is happening is 100% a self-mastery issue…

If you lack confidence in your idea, product, mission, movement, etc. then you will over-innovate which will become your excuse, story, and THE reason why whatever you are working on will NEVER reach its potential and/or implode.

Over-Innovation and Perfectionism are synonymous with another and I have never met a perfectionist that has achieved their ultimate desires in life because they care too much about what everyone else thinks, they hold on tightly to their genius and keep it within, and they allow the romance they hold for the idea, movement, mission, cause, product, etc. to prevent what’s possible.

If you truly want to make a difference…

If you truly want to make change…

If you truly want to impact…

If you truly want to experience your greatness…

If you truly want to make a fortune..

If you truly want it ALL…

INNOVATE WITH BOUNDARIES!

Firm,

Hard,

Written in stone...
