Let Go Of Your Hold

“It’s liberating when you recognize that you are not needed, but rather wanted AND your desire to remain in control has dissipated.”

-Jared Yellin

When your self-worth is tied to how much someone or something NEEDS you, that someone or something will be stifled and you are held captive…

So, how does this serve you?

I find many people in both business and in life feel important, special, essential, the more they are NEEDED and it’s fascinating because these people typically battle and struggle with a sense of lack.

I have written many articles around this subject, but one in particular really rubbed people the wrong way…

I want my kids to WANT me…

NOT…

NEED me!

I had parents barking and chirping at me - berating my parenting, and questioning if my values were truly aligned.

Listen naysayers, I don’t care what you think, but what I do care is that my children, my wife, my family, my team, and my co-founders, etc. realize that they have everything they NEED to thrive and only WANT my involvement so that we can share the experience.

The tighter you hold…

The weaker you become…

The more you restrict…

The less you experience…

For Me, I Realized The POWER Of WANT Versus NEED As An Entrepreneur Which Then Spilled Over Into My Everyday Life…

About 4 years ago, I felt that SYNDUIT, one of my companies, was too dependent on me…

EVERY decision went through me…

EVERY sales opportunity involved me…

EVERY challenge was solved by me…

And the outcome of being as integrated as I was in the company was a team of followers…

There was no space to LEAD…

There was no opportunity for GROWTH…

There was no path to really CONTRIBUTE…

My stronghold on the company was the single reason why the company was not further along…

I MUST work towards obsolescence and I needed to do it quickly…

I don’t believe people like the feeling of NEEDING…

WANTING is a space of liberation…

A space of power…

A space of impact…

A space of transformation…

Within two years, not only was I NOT needed, I was also NOT even WANTED!

The company began to thrive on it’s own the same way that anything you let go of will accelerate…

But the longer and harder you hold on - the more you and the someone or something is held back.

The purpose of this article is to provide you with a sense of certainty around NOT holding on too tight and too long but instead, give yourself the permission to LET GO!

You got THIS!

Live with Intention,
