I’m impressed…
I’m inspired…
I’m excited…
But I am NEVER - EVER - EVER - in awe.
I don’t believe anyone has anything over me…
I don’t believe anyone can do anything I can’t…
I don't’ believe anyone has a competitive advantage…
I LOVE when entrepreneurs win…
I celebrate them even when I don’t know them…
I talk about them and how proud I am of their accomplishments…
I cheer for them as they announce their success…
But once again…
They have nothing on me!
I share this because one of the reasons why people fall short of their ambitions is they get stuck in AWE mode…
They see others who have accomplished something and instead of declaring - AMAZING - now it’s my turn - they look in the mirror and see lack…
I’m not as smart…
I’m not as skilled…
I’m not them!
Remember, Roger Bannister…
He was the dude that ran the 4-minute mile.
EVERYONE told him that it was impossible…
EVERYONE thought it was impossible…
EVERYONE gave up before they tried…
But Roger had only ONE plan…
4-minute mile - and he did it!
And guess what….
He’s no different than you…
OTHER THAN…
He did not listen…
He did not play by the rules…
He did not sit in awe of the person who ran a 4:01 minute mile…
He declared no one had anything over him…
He declared that what his mind was able to conceive he would achieve…
He declared that what was humanly possible would be defined by him…
Your “AH-HAH” Moment
NO ONE has anything over you.
I remember making this decision when I was 19 years old…
I was going door-to-door selling credit card processing services to small businesses in Manhattan and Brooklyn and there was a “top-sales-person” in the office.
Everyone gawked over him…
Everyone was in awe…
Everyone was debilitated by his greatness…
Except for me…
He was my equal…
He had nothing over me…
He was my baseline…
I remember one day walking to the office at 6am so that I would arrive on time for our 6:30am warm-up sessions before hitting the field and I made the declaration…
NO ONE has anything over me.
Within 2-weeks, I surpassed this fine gentleman and not only became the #1 sales person in the office, but also in the entire country.
This would have been IMPOSSIBLE if I was in awe…
This would have been IMPOSSIBLE if I thought he had something over me…
This would have been IMPOSSIBLE if I believed he had a competitive advantage…
I share this story with you because I am positive there is an idea inside of your mind, heart, and spirit right now that will change the world…
It’s an idea that is the next SLACK, FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, AIRBNB, UBER…
But if you are sitting in awe, gawking at the success of these companies, and thinking that you don’t have what they have…
This idea will die with you…
There is only ONE difference between ME and YOU…
I know I am next…
And I want you to KNOW you are too…
