I find that many many many people and entrepreneurs attach their worth to how integral they are inside of their business and the lives of people they care about.
But I believe it's our responsibility to become WANTED and not NEEDED…
NEEDED is unhealthy…
NEEDED is massive risk…
NEEDED is unsustainable…
NEEDED is riddled with compromises…
WANTED is a desire…
WANTED is always novel…
WANTED is filled with vitality…
WANTED is a sense of independence…
Listen, you can absolutely disagree with me on the deepest of levels, but I have met many people in my life who value their worth on being NEEDED and these are some of the most unhappy people I have ever crossed paths with...
In April of 2020, I had a profound realization…
I was officially obsolete at a company I founded by myself 10-years earlier!
Many people at this point would be excited, but their enthusiasm would often turn into doubt, limiting beliefs, and lack of worth.
For me…
I was charged…
I was excited…
I was ready to pass the baton…
My immediate action was a team meeting with my top four people at SYNDUIT where I offered them vested equity in exchange for them keeping me obsolete.
“Pretend that I am not here and just figure out what needs to happen to reach the next level, but know that I am here if you are really stuck.”
Well, the team rose up and at this point, I might spend 10-minutes a week on SYNDUIT…
I don’t say this to brag…
I don’t say this to have you praise me…
I don’t say this to make you feel like you are falling short…
But instead…
I want you to understand the POWER of FIRING YOURSELF!

The purpose of this article is to give you the courage to sprint in the opposite direction of being NEEDED and towards being WANTED.

In just 6+ months, I/We have done the following…
Launched CILA Labs, which currently has over 50 companies and is on the path to 10,000 by 2031.
Launched the IDEA Squad, which is an exclusive group of 36 entrepreneurs who have the licensing rights to represent themselves as partners of CILA Labs.
Launched ChangeMaker Ventures, which is a fascinating angel investor network.
Launched Young Entrepreneur Movement, which will have 1,000,000 Young Entrepreneurs in 365 days.
Began MySalesChampion, which will have 5,000,000 Sales Champions by 2025 and completely disrupt the gig economy.
Moved my family from CT to Florida so that we can experience our right of freedom.
CILA has gone global with partnerships in Ukraine, Africa, and the Middle East (and more to come).
And many other massive highlights as well...
And here’s the most fascinating part of this breakthrough…
I had more naysayers than supporters…
I had more doubters than celebrators…
I had more cynics than believers…
Even people in my family told me that becoming obsolete at SYNDUIT was a poor decision and yet - the only voice that ever matters is your own.
I want to say this again so you don’t miss it…
The only voice that ever matters is your own.
But there is one more ESSENTIAL ingredient…
More important than your VOICE is your GUT because there’s a very good chance that your voice will default to doubt as you begin to make a much needed transition, but your GUT will never steer you wrong.
So, listen to your voice, but ACT upon your GUT and trust that when the time is right your GUT will tell you to…
