I had someone message me the other day about an article I published called…

They said (btw I asked for permission to share this and they happily agreed)...

“Jared, I read your article. AMAZING! And I did the work. I programmed my code.”

My response was…

“Awesome...now LIVE YOUR CODE.”

The number of companies and people who have ideation sessions YEARLY to define and redefine their values irks me to my core because more often than not - this is what I call a Hallmark Card Experience. 

A Hallmark Card Experience sounds good…

BUT

Typically is not lived out…

“Do as I SAY, not as I do.”

I personally know entrepreneurs who have founded companies and the values they stand for within their company are completely contradictory to how they live their lives…

They use words like honesty, integrity, teamwork, etc. and they are everything but this which is why my response to the private message was…

“Awesome...now LIVE YOUR CODE.”

Talk is cheap…

Saying you are going to a better spouse….

Saying you are going to focus more on your children…

Saying you are going to commit to your health…

Saying you are going to launch your audacious idea…

Saying you are going to quit your job to pursue your calling…

Holds no meaning…

Leads to no change…

Is a complete waste of time…

BUT!!!!

Committing to the action associated with what you are saying is where your transformation is born, but more importantly…

It’s where your LEADER lives!

Every person I know who is one way on stage and another way off stage eventually gets caught in their contradictions…

And the destruction that transpires is predicted on how contradicted this person was and for how long.

I have a really strong example of someone who is NOT...

NOT living their CODE.

Let’s call this person...Randy.

Randy was a big fish in a small pond within his state and within his industry. 

Being a big fish in a small pond within his state and within his industry led to an sense of arrogance that kind of worked within his state and within his industry because his track record spoke for itself.

BUT...Randy had a bigger vision for his life and decided to pursue a larger stage outside of his state and outside of his industry.

As Randy began to pursue this next chapter in his career, he was able to gain some immediate traction but his LACK of LIVING his CODE and only SAYING his CODE eventually caught up with him and the early adopters began to dismantle and growth within this new chapter was extremely slow.

I said this about five years ago and I am going to echo this today because it’s more relevant today than ever before…

LIVE YOUR CODE because that’s the only thing people care about…

They don’t care about your watch...

They don’t care about your cars...

They don’t care about the amount of money you have…

They don't care about your accolades...

They only care that you DO AS YOU SAY and DO AS YOU DO!

Randy did not get this memo and as a result hit his head VERY hard on a ceiling that will NOT budge until he begins to LIVE HIS CODE!

Which brings me to my final point...

All that I care about is how people LIVE - not what they talk about.

If you plan on programming your code OR you already have...I have an important announcement to make…

“Awesome...now LIVE YOUR CODE.”

The last decade has been filled with a great mirage…

People who have been able to say ONE thing and DO something differently…

Society is yearning for authenticity..

Society is begging for honesty…

Society won’t negotiate with anything other than transparency…

SO…

LIVE YOUR CODE...PERIOD!
